MEET MISS IDAHO

Miss Idaho 2026

Déja Fitzwater is a 21-year-old student at the University of Idaho studying Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Animal Sciences. Originally from Lewiston, she has spent much of her life involved in agricultural education and youth development. Those experiences sparked a passion for helping young people discover opportunities that can shape their futures.

As Miss Idaho 2026, Déja serves as an ambassador for the state while continuing her work in education and community engagement. Her background in 4-H, AmeriCorps, and Extension programming has given her the opportunity to work with students from many different communities. Through these experiences, she has seen how hands-on learning helps young people build confidence and find their voice.

About Déja

Déja plans to pursue a Master's Degree in Agricultural Education and become an Extension Educator. She hopes to spend her career connecting students with meaningful learning experiences and helping them develop the skills needed to succeed in their communities.

In addition to her academic work, Déja is a published undergraduate researcher and a recipient of the Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Award. She has also earned the Girl Scout Gold Award and serves as Vice President of Community Relations for Idaho Alpha Pi Beta Phi. Service remains at the center of everything she does.

Heart health advocacy is another cause that is deeply personal to her. As a child, Déja spent years working with pediatric cardiologists while managing chronic heart palpitations and undergoing procedures for SVT. Those experiences taught her the importance of prioritizing wellness and supporting others facing similar challenges. Today, she volunteers and fundraises for the American Heart Association while encouraging healthy habits within her community.

Community Service Initiative

Advocate4Ag was created to expand access to agricultural and STEM education through hands-on learning. Inspired by the 4-H motto, "To Make the Best Better," the initiative encourages students to build confidence and leadership skills through direct experience.

Déja's passion for this work began through more than a decade in 4-H. Today, she supports youth programming through Latah County 4-H, serves as an AmeriCorps member facilitating STEM activities, and helps plan leadership opportunities for students across Idaho through the State Teen Association Conference.

Advocate4Ag also works to increase awareness of agricultural career pathways. Through outreach events, career fairs, and social media, Déja helps students discover opportunities within agriculture and related sciences. As Miss Idaho, she hopes to expand these efforts statewide and inspire more young people to find their place in Idaho's future.
